In this project, students are asked to reimagine daily public transport from a user-first perspective. The process begins with empathizing through interviews with daily commuters, traffic officials, and public transportation staff. Insights are collected about common pain points like delays, overcrowding, ticketing issues, and safety concerns. Students then define the core problems before moving to the ideation phase, where they brainstorm innovative yet practical solutions—like app-based ticketing, better seating design, or real-time bus tracking. Next, prototypes of mobile apps, bus stop designs, or commuter kits are developed and tested with a focus group. The outcome is a user-friendly transport experience that blends technology with empathy. This project builds analytical and creative skills and teaches how to address urban issues through design thinking.

Improving the Hospital Waiting Room Experience

The goal of this project is to improve the experience of patients and their families in hospital waiting rooms. Students begin by empathizing with visitors through interviews and observation. Insights reveal emotional discomfort, confusion about procedures, and lack of privacy as major pain points. In the define stage, these issues are organized into problem statements. During ideation, students explore solutions like digital queue systems, calming interior designs, or interactive guides.
