Brave is Pixar’s first-period film set in the 12th century. It used a cloth simulation Engine known as Fitz and Taz for the hair simulation. Taz was developed for Merida’s curly hair simulations. It also makes use of the pixar’s own RenderMan.

Wreck it Ralph was made extensively in Autodesk Maya. It had a lot of old video game references which had a 2d film and incorporated old traditional animation. It also made use of Disney’s new bidirectional reflectance distribution functions, which enabled more realistic reflections on surfaces, and the new virtual cinematography Camera Capture system, which enables the going through scenes in real-time.
