Design and Simulation of a Robotic Gripper

This project focuses on designing and simulating a robotic gripper, a critical component in automation and robotics. Participants begin by creating 3D models of the gripper's individual parts, such as fingers, links, actuators, and mounting brackets. Using SolidWorks' Part Modeling tools, they will ensure precise dimensions and incorporate parametric features for scalability. Once the parts are designed, participants will assemble the gripper using Assembly Mode, applying mates to simulate real-world movement and ensuring mechanical compatibility. They will then perform a Motion Study to analyze the gripper’s range of motion and functionality. Lastly, the project includes Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to test the gripper's structural integrity under load, allowing participants to optimize materials and design. This project hones skills in part modeling, assembly, and simulation while offering insights into real-world automation challenges.

Development of a Gearbox Assembly

This project involves designing a functional gearbox assembly, commonly used in automotive and industrial machinery. Participants will start by modeling the individual components, including gears, shafts, housings, and bearings, ensuring accurate tolerances and dimensions. The next step is assembling these components using SolidWorks Assembly Tools, ensuring proper alignment and fit. Participants will also use the Gear Mates feature to simulate gear motion and verify gear ratios. The project concludes with an FEA study to analyze stresses on gears and shafts during operation, followed by the creation of Detailed Engineering Drawings for manufacturing. This project provides hands-on experience in designing complex mechanical systems and understanding power transmission.

Design of a Consumer Product: Ergonomic Chair

This project focuses on designing an ergonomic chair, blending functionality with aesthetics. Participants will use Surface Modeling tools in SolidWorks to create smooth, organic shapes for the seat, backrest, and armrests. They will apply ergonomic principles to ensure user comfort, considering factors like lumbar support and proper dimensions. Participants will also design structural components, such as the chair base and caster wheels, ensuring durability and stability. The project includes creating Exploded Views to showcase assembly details and rendering the final model using SolidWorks Visualize for realistic presentations. Design and Analysis of a Drone Frame

This project focuses on designing a lightweight yet sturdy frame for a drone, balancing structural integrity with aerodynamic efficiency. Participants begin by creating the frame's 3D model using SolidWorks Part Modeling, designing components such as arms, central hub, and mounting points for motors, propellers, and electronic components. The design will incorporate features like hollow sections or lattice structures to reduce weight while maintaining strength. Next, participants will assemble the entire drone structure using Assembly Tools, ensuring proper alignment and fit for all components. The project also includes Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to test the frame’s performance under various stress conditions, such as impacts, vibrations, and load distribution during flight. Additionally, participants will focus on optimizing the frame's design by experimenting with different materials, such as aluminum or carbon fiber composites, using SolidWorks' Material Library. The project concludes with creating Technical Drawings and Exploded Views, detailing the frame’s dimensions and assembly instructions. This project is ideal for developing advanced skills in part modeling, structural analysis, and material optimization, preparing participants for roles in the drone or UAV industry.
