Designing a Mobile App for a Local Grocery Delivery Startup

In this capstone project, students will be tasked with conceptualizing and designing a user-friendly mobile application for a local grocery delivery startup operating in Delhi-NCR. The objective is to create a clean and intuitive interface that simplifies the user journey from selecting products to final checkout. Students begin by conducting user research, developing personas, and mapping out user flows. The wireframing stage is done using FigJam, followed by high-fidelity UI screens developed in Figma. Key UI elements include real-time cart updates, geo-location-based delivery timing, promo code integration, and smooth onboarding flow. Students also focus on mobile responsiveness and accessibility standards. This project trains learners in end-to-end product thinking, applying Figma’s component-based design, auto-layouts, prototyping tools, and handoff to developers. Additionally, learners will present their final prototype through an interactive click-through demo, mirroring real-world client presentations. The comprehensive exposure prepares participants to handle freelance clients or in-house design projects confidently.

Redesign of an E-Learning Dashboard for a University Portal

In this advanced project, learners are challenged to redesign the existing dashboard of a fictional university’s e-learning platform. The emphasis is on enhancing usability, visual hierarchy, and user engagement. Students are introduced to problem-solving through UX audit and heuristic evaluation, followed by gathering feedback from sample users (persona simulation). The redesign includes modules such as course tracking, assignment submission, attendance stats, notifications, and resource management. Participants use Figma to restructure the information architecture, build adaptive layout systems, and design consistent visual patterns using style guides and reusable components. Interaction design and prototyping with animations are employed to create a seamless learning experience. A key deliverable is a dark-mode version, demonstrating the ability to implement modern UI trends. This project simulates a real-world team-based collaboration scenario, as students participate in weekly sprint reviews and iterate on feedback. The final deliverables are presented as a case study portfolio and design documentation ready for handoff to developers or stakeholders.
